The brown hare sits watching,
through the eye of a needle,
the ticking hands on the face of the clock.
He jumps up on the chest,
it's brown leather top
worn and creased,
like wrinkles on it's skin.
Upon it sits a bottle,
its long, elegant neck
leading up to its open mouth.
The little brown bunny hops
across the arm of the couch
and between the legs of the chair
(good thing it was standing still, or it would have tripped),
then comes to rest
at the foot of the bed.
Hi Jessi thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteI like the rustic persona that the Muted colors you chose create throughout the poem, and I like how in the first stanza, you use unconventional imagery, "through the eye of a needle" (2).
The description you use throughout the poem is interesting in how it entails sharp & indelicate features, like the needle mentioned earlier, though the poem consistently retains a feeling of elegance that is especially seen in the third stanza.
I also like how the poem ends with a similar sort of stillness that occurs in the beginning of the poem.
Thanks for writing & ill see you in class:-)
also, congratulations on the kitties!
