FIN

Finality

A culmination of everything
The finish isn't the end
only a pause.

It all continues in a circle
a cycle if you will
life, love, death, rebirth

Conclusion

  1. Hello Chris,

Thank you for posting :). I like the way your poem appears on the page; it has a great sense of balance to it. The two stanzas that are sandwiched in between the first and last lines of the poem appear to me, to be a sort of cycle that insinuates the actual content of the poem. I appreciate the way the structure of the poem interacts with the content in this particular way. The second and third stanzas are “A culmination of everything” (2) as a residual recurring “cycle” (6). There’s a lot of language associated with the use of cycles: “continues in a circle” (5), “cycle” (6) and “life, love, death, rebirth” (7).

The contextual meaning of the poem seems to be directly associated with the descriptions in the poem, that such things are able to persist in memory, maybe through something ethereal or through the actions of individuals that still carry their original intentions. Though the poem is minimal in size, I think the concept of it creates a lasting, concrete effect. The title of the poem, the first line and the last line of the poem all indicate a sort of “Conclusion” (8) though in between these lines, are several descriptions that indicate something that is more recurring. I appreciate the sense of contrasting balance that is created by these variables in the poem, and that the context resides even after the poem is concluded.

Keep writing, and I look forward to seeing more of your work as we continue to meet.
    -Tara
